Engineering Hats in Science

This week students have been learning that materials have properties that serve different purposes.  Example: a raincoat has the property of repelling water because we don't want to get wet in a rainstorm.  A bike helmet is hard because we want it to protect our head.  Students then used a variety of materials to construct a hat while thinking about their properties and purpose.
